Not been myself but I am off to WestonPark a week on Friday, just going fro 2 nights but its only £40 for 5 nights including admission.
Entertainment on Fri and Saturday nights.
They also have Nitro model truck racing which a friend of mine has been to the last couple of years. He said its a great weekend.
Cheers, just still wondering how friendly camping for family will be? Dont want wife and bairns surrounded by hairy ass truckers ! No offence meant.Myself and son would love it, just not sure wife and and girls will.
We went to Truckfest back in May and it was brilliant. We was very lucky and won the trip thru this site. Had to presuade hiubby to go and none of the kids were really that interested. BUt by the end of the weekend, they ALL loved it. Thats the old man, three boys 11,11,8 and daughter 14. Try it if all else fails at least you can say you tried???? thats how i got my old man to goto truckfest LOL

Campers do it in the mud!
Hubby says we can
We are going to the yorkshire truckfest on 15,16,17th june camping ,We like the look of the website so thought hell yeah give it a go, even my sisters comming with us and thats saying something (doesnt do camping really). If its not our thing theres always a few bottles of wine to fall back on.Kids (boy + girl) will love it as they is monster trucks and stunt motorbikes there.Im trying to persuade other half to go to the one you have mentioned santa pod, but at the moment hes saying it too far to travel with the kids as he gets sick ov are we there yet ...lol
Take the dive and try it your wife and girls might surprise you....
We went to Truckfest South East last weekend. Me, my husband and my 7 year old daughter and her friend.
When we got to the campsite there were only about 10 caravans and tents in the field. Almost all of the truckers sleep in their cabs or pitch tents next to their trucks.
We all had a great day out. The only trouble was that the toilets and showers were quite a walk away.
I camp at Santa Pod for car shows and the camping area there is also away from the toilets and water tap. Shouldn't be too much of a problem with a bit of planning though.
I'm up at Santa Pod this coming weekend for the Classic Ford show.
Give it a go, if you don't like it then it's only a couple of nights.
We have camped at Truckfest Peterborough a few times and always have a great time (even though the weather is normally awful) We have found it really family friendly with competitions and stuff for the kids and they have a massive funfair too. The artwork on the trucks is amazing! The only downside we have ever encountered is the dodgy loos (main blocks are okay but portaloos abit iffy!)
Am sure you will have a great time

I would say the last people who would be offended by 'such a derogatory term' are truckers themselves (my father drove a lorry before retirement btw). The poster even said 'no offence meant', and it was certainly clear to me what he meant.

Political correctness gone mad.
Thank you for that arthurdent. I have many friends who drive trucks, wagons, lorries for a living. It is a term my friends use all the time when talking to each other regarding other drivers etc. Usually because most truckers are always out for a right good laugh!
Regarding been surrounded by truckers - I would not be thinking of going to a fest would I? Honestly !

It is not a case of political correctness it is a case of politeness and respect to other people, and the fact that the original poster felt the need to add the additional comment says a lot

he didnt mean it offensively
a sense of humour is what he has

it was written in jest
it is such a pity that you had to reply at all really
if you have a un-nice opinion or comment it is surely best kept to yourself
