Wolf whistle away, when you get past your 30s its not so common -might get the odd short sighted builder!! Good thing theres no close ups. yep its really tall. a six foot guy can stand up no prob.
Annie - to go back to your earlier question about the guy ropes:
They all need to be used as they are there for a reason. They need to come down and away from the tent, meeting the ground at an angle of around 45 degrees, but if you have not got space on your pitch they may need to be shortened to come down at a steeper angle- that is why they have plastic sliders on them to adjust the length.
You pull the guy ropes out so they align with the seam they are sitting on. If you imagine looking at your tent from above you need to ensure that the guyropes are evenly pulling lengthways and width ways as a whole around the tent, and that they are not pulling in such a way that poles are twisted out of shape. Also, in wet weathe rthey wil lslacke nand will need to be tightened up, and wil lthen need to be loosened off again when they dry out (otherwise you can end up wit ha ripped tent as everything shrinks as it dries again!)
As for pegs, I would strongly recommend getting enough Delta ground anchors for one for each guy rope - they do a superb job and you can get them at a 10% discount through the shop on here.
Hiya Ali, done it at last!! all I need is the holiday now. Gonna try for sandy Balls in August but got a feeling we wont get in. Thanks foggers for the tips, they are all really helpful. Gonna print off he helpful bits and take them with us cos i wont remember it all got a mind like a sieve. Will get some Delta pegs if you recommend them. Still got some bits to buy but getting there!
Just one thing. We have found the structure of this tent is more stable if the blue poles go under the black at their crossing point. The point about Deltas is a good one as well.
You're right it could be a bit tauter but that will come with practise. Not sure i'd be brave enough to try it in a public park. The bedroom pods are easy to put in. The square one goes across the back and the other two are colour coded. You will realize that you don't have the correct shape of the tent when you lay the groundsheet and there are big gaps at the sides. It's easy enough to adjust the tent to fit with the groundsheet. Guy ropes should come away from the tent at approx 45 degree angle and pegs should be put in at a 45 degree angle leaning away from the tent. Best to invest in a couple of rubber mallets instead of a claw hammer though !!
Thanks Dave, will keep that in mind, very helpful and will be buying some rubber mallets - will come in handy for bashing OH over the head when hes skiving off for a pint instaed of finishing the tent!!!
