I think I might get one of those stands, as I bought a fairly hefty lantern today from Millets in Chester.  It seems to be a bargain - £14.95 for a battery powered Coleman Northstar, like this one.....

It takes EIGHT D-Type batteries - but it is pretty bright IMO.  Once I get more experienced in camping I may be brave and get a burny lantern in addition.  I had to ask the shop assistant to do a price check 'cos I thought these babies were £30 ish.  But up it came off the barcode £14.95 - she was amazed, I was surprised so I got it before she could change her mind (or the till).  I wonder if this was a one off or available at all Millets?

I bought a Coleman dual fuel, and it's fab, but I wouldn't hang it inside the tent. I had it on the floor (on top of a rug), but don't know what I'd do when we've got our dog, or if we had kids. Only use it outside probably, and use a battery lantern inside.

Well I bought one of those excellent Wynnster Lantern Stands and I plan to lightly connect the top of the stand to the roof of the living area - so that if the kids knock it over it won't actually tip far enough to fall - like a safety line I guess.

It does indeed have pegging holes on the three feet, but they aren't too much use in a SIG tent!
