Oh my god how hard can this be. We are a family of four with limited budget looking for a two or three room tent, need to fit in a ten year old and a 16month old complete with travel cot ..oh and I forgot to mention only had 1 large one room tent dome before so fairly new to the game. Newcastle upon tyne does not have many places to view tents (any suggestions greatly received).
Anyway looking at Vango colorado 600 or 800 dlx and diabolo ranges, Outwell Hartford l, and Wynnster and need to stand up in bedroom.
Pleease help make the decision £150-00 - £200-00 the less the better. Have to buy all the equipment.
This where our friends got their tent from, which was a basecamp bungalow, a roomy vis a vis tent that has done them proud. Its in your neck of the woods.
The sunncamp shadow looks a good contender, as does the invader (similar to the vario) as they would give you good headheight and space within budget.
Best thing is to look at a few, shortlist the ones you like, then research them on here.
We looked at both the Colorado and Diablo ranges from Vango when we decided to move from 2x2 man tents into a family tent with our children (8 and 1). They are both lovely tents but we decided that they were just too big, and might present problems on some sites (being charged for 2 pitches etc). For this reason we decided to opt for a smaller footprint tunnel tent.
We went for a Coleman Columbus 8 in the end, mainly because we found one for only £149! It has 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles and a single, and you can stand up in all of them. There is also enough living space for the kids to play if its raining and they're stuck indoors.
A couple of others we liked were the Vango TBS Oregon and Wyoming. The SunnCamp Shadow 800 was good too.
My main advice would be to visit a shop which has tents up! Or better still a tent show. You need to look around a tent before you buy - what looks perfect in a picture can look totally different in the flesh!
Good luck.

Hi.
If you have as you say a limited budget. What I would do is look for the tent that you need and is recommended by UK Campsite members. When you know what you would buy if you had the cash.Check out Free Adverts on here if no luck go onto the ((Prevloved)) site and serch for tents
There are hundreds of second hand tents to choose from.
Best of luck in finding what you want.

Take a look at the khyam ontario 6 if you have a budget of less than 200 this is a great starter tent.....or the vango wyoming at millets was on offer the other week for 150

Hope that helps a bit!
I've got the Wynnster at the top of this site, the Pegasus 6. It's a really nice tent with loads of space in the living area and because the fabric in the living area is light and it has a clear skylight and loads of windows it is really light inside. I like the fact that you can roll back the whole of the front, when it is warm. And the little windows are cool too.
No matter where you go, always ask for a discount, easier to do at mom and pop type shops, but no matter always ask. You might find a more expensive tent for under budget.
When you find your tent, google it to price compare. The tent I was looking at was originally quoted at £600. Google got me down to £439. I then asked them take £40 off and they did.
Thanks everyone, am going to great outdoors 2morrow and universal aswell. Now next question: is it better to have sewn in groundheet?, was going to buy Vango Colorado 800 dlx found on web at £159-00 but it has got clip in ground sheet ( just worrying about creepy crawlies and the kids.
It's down to preference. SIG keep out majority of creepy crawlies but also make them quite hot when the sun is out. given that we don't seem to have much sun, it might not be much of a concern! SIG does keep kids in too, if they're small enough not to reach the zip. Providing your tent had adequate ventilation via mesh windows and doors, then it shouldn't be too bad. We have a SIG because we camp all year round and it keeps the heat in when cold and the fan heater is on. Some tents have zip in groundsheets, so you have the choice.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
