We are off on the 11th August for two weeks, been booked for eons!!!! and we are going way hay!! First time we will be doing the double ,taking down and putting up again on same day, worried enough about that, we don't want to be worried about the weather as well.I have put in an advance order for the heatwave we will all be enjoying lol.Wiltshire and Dorset here we come.
Well you lot are braver than us, I couldn't face two weeks in the mud and rain with two kids and two dogs (can't go to indoor places with the wuffs) so we booked a late to Florida instead!
Will try and snatch a weekend when we get back tho otherwise will get withdrawal lol
Well - as I started this string I feel I should update you on my "two fingers up to the weather - we're still going" holiday last week....
...firstly, we left at 4am on the Saturday of the first day of the floods from Cheshire - after a detour down the M40, then cross country to M4 and then across to Bristol to pick up the M5 we then arrived in Cornwal at about 1.30pm..!!!!
Weather wasnt too bad and all good with the site etc, we even got a day on the beach on Sunday!!! BUT....my two yr old caught Chicken Pox and the spots came out during Sunday, she got it really bad and was rather poorly with it so unfortunately we gave up on Monday, packed up and headed home...we spent the rest of the week looking after her at home...bless her. Still, she is getting better now, and thats the main thing!
So, moral of the story "If the rain doesnt get you, then the C.Pox definately will"
Next trip will be an attempt to spend 7 days camping at end of August....hoping that rain / illness wont stop us...and whatever else stops me putting up the tent...!!
------------- August - Week in Cornwall
September - Still need to book somewhere, looking now!!!
well we are off to filey tomorrow :) Kids want to go whatever the weather. rang the site and our pitch is dry. Hurray. the site has had 2 foot of water though poor things.
hope everyone is drying out down south.
hope the chicken pox is better. (be warned my husband caught it off my daughter when she was 18 months!)
ps everyone is saying summer is going to start on the 18th aug. is that true?
I'm off to Fforest Fields on Thursday with two kids and the dog. Weather isnt looking too bad at the moment - its certainly been hot and sunny here again today - I dont care if its cold just as long as the pitch isnt mud I dont care!
We are off to York on Saturday for 6 nights then up to Bruce`s Meet. I just looked at Metcheck and according to that the weather is going to be OK, but rain next Tues and Weds. Think I will plan for two days of `indoor` things to do then. Maybe the Museum, Yorvik and train museum, I just hope Metcheck is right and we will be able to pitch and spend the first few days in goodish weather.
How I feel for you, from your first post I could see how committed you were, but you could not have stopped the C Pox.It reminded me of the time we went away and my daughter developed the same but nothing you can do,still better she has it now and finished with and never mind, you will get that tent up one day!!
Thanks for the comments outdoor crew, as you say, atleast the C.Pox is now done with (and our 4yr old has also already had it!). We remain comitted to camping and this certainly wont put us off.....all these minor problems only go to making sure the next time we go is even more enjoyable - I mean, it cant be worse!!
Stay positive campers...!!
