You only need to do that with canvas tents. However, it might be a good idea to hose your Monty down to check that all the seams are OK. If you have any leaks, you can then seal them.
Actually, with the weather we've been having, you probably won't need a hose.
The Monty6 is already proofed. I think he meant to hose it down to see if the proofing worked and ensure that there were no leaks. II would erect the tent, remove the sleeping pods and then give it a good soaking all over with the hose to see if there are any leaks anywhere. The Monty6 has previously suffered from leaks and this i the best way to test it although the 2007 models seem to be better than the 2006 ones. Our Monty stood up to driving wind and rain with a couple of minor leaks at the bottom of he seams where the bedroom pods attach to the fly near each side door. They were minor and I was willing to fix these with seam sealer rather than returning the tent

On the instructions for Diablo ( only a couple of years old ), it tells you to put it up and sprinkle with a hose pipe in order to bring the fibres closer together, helping with the waterproofing.
We were away last weekend in our 07 monty6, 1st time outing in the wet (understatement of the year!) and wind and more wet. Now we had a couple of puddles by the right hand sleeping pod. was just wondering if yours were in the same place? I'm not talking buckets required but the odd wipe with a cloth. Now I didnt say a word all weekend to OH because the was enough stress around, and I didnt fancy having to take the tent back, when I wasnt sure if it was condensation or just in need of alittle seam sealer. We did set up in the rain, what fun.
Something else that did cause a bigger puddle was the big door, the wind was blowing the valco bottom fastening and the water came straight in. A zip althe was round would have been a better idea. we do have a front canopy but didnt have that up this time.
