First post and just wanted to thank you all for making our first trip a success. I've been reading these posts for weeks and finally went to Caolasnacon in Kinlochleven on Saturday for one night. I had everything we needed including nappy bucket for night time loo trips. My other half wasn't so sure on camping, but as he was looking at the hills while eating his roll and sausage this morning, I think he is converted. My daughter, age 4, had a ball on the rope swing. My son, age 9 with Asperger's Syndrome, couldn't work out what to do as there was no club house or obvious activities. Once he realised he had to make his own entertainment we didn't get him back into the tent until nightfall. He says when he has children he will bring them back here to show them all the special hiding places he found. Loved it. We're going to try again in a few weeks for two nights. And you were all right about fellow campers being helpful. Our first attempt at pitching near the water in strong winds caused us some stress, but the couple in the next tent told us about a sheltered single pitch which was a great help. Thanks again

Thanks Magnolia, it was great to see the kids running around and absolutely filthy from just playing outdoors. Thinking on trying Dumfries area next. Son wants to be near a beach this time.

Hi and welcome to UKCS lesleybm - it is so good to hear about successful first trips. Thanks for sharing your lovely adventures, and for appreciatingthe help on here. It IS the best camping forum in the world!

There are quite a few folks on here with children with special needs and camping seems to be especially suited for a flexible holiday option - it sounds like you sone has had a fantastic time. I do hope that the sausage buttie with great views has won over your OH, and that you all enjoy many more such adventures.
