i have just purchased a vango idaho 600,

my old tent is a sunncamp festiva, its a huge 12 berth tent, it has some faults but these can easily be fixed, ie 5 poles have spilt, small 1inch tear in the sunporch, and the tip in the sleeping pod has broken.

My dilemma is do i fix these myself, easily done and sell it for more money, or just sell it as it is, obviously stating the faults, i know the timing isn't right to sell  now so i could store away until spring next year, i would be looking at 100.00 if i sold it fixed and any offers if not, don't really know what to do, any advice and what price should i realisticly be looking to get.

If it was me, I would fix the faults and then sell, people looking to buy a 2nd hand tent normally haven't camped before and are looking for something to try for a couple of seasons, they may not know where to begin with fixing a tent up!

But it's whatever suits you!

Sharon.

If you are not desperate for the money, why not Freecycle it just as it is ? A family who is just starting camping would be really grateful, and after lots of giving away & receiving on the site, I am pretty sure the people on there are not after selling it on. And if camping doesn't suit, or they move on to a new tent, it may appear back on! Just an idea.

I'd let myself go but I've already gone.

I would put it on ebay, stating the faults.

Anything you get will go towards a holiday for you.

Yes you could put it on Ebay and make a couple of pounds.

To be honest I wouldn't buy a tent that has been damaged especially when you can pick up a fairly good new tent for £100.

We have had a tent that was damaged a couple of months ago but we also repaired it and now use as a spare. I.E. Let my daughter use it for going away to festivals. Saves her money and makes me feel good that I can help her out.

To answer to your question I would repair it and then sell it on but to be honest I suspect you wouldn't get that much for it (but you never Know)

Good luck anyway!

thanks going to keep it, as i am planning on taking the kids for 6 weeks next year, so the big tent will be fine for that and i can get help putting it up, and i can live with the faults, after all it costs nothing to store it, so now i will be the owner of 2 tents, not bad for a 2nd session camper and a single mum as well.
