I've looked through previous threads on the subject of single parents for some clues.
I'm not a single parent, however my OH is in NZ for a couple of weeks, so I thought I would spending the weekend camping with my youngest(16months). Now I think she'll be okay whilst I pitch the tent and I thnk she'll be okay sleeping, my concern will be trying to cook and keep her amused/out the way of the gas cooker.
Try putting her in her buggy, whilst you've got the cooker on. I take our in car dvd into the tent and put on my daughters favourite cartoon, works a charm.
Take a cheap plastic highchair, like the Antilop one from Ikea, and put her in there with some crayons or chopped up veg to eat while you cook. Worked well for me when my lot were toddlers. Alternatively, if your weekend tent is big enough (you`re not intending to pitch the Diablo solo, I presume?) then take a travel cot.
Travel cot, stroller, playpen, windbreak coral, car seat ( with doors open ) living on butties. All work, if you have mesh on your bed pod and are still in sight this also works. Did once attach a dog run lead to son's harness this worked a treat as he could run about but I did get very funny looks. Use which ever works best for you safety first.
