We got back from the lake district on Monday. When we packed up the tent was still wet and was quite muddy around the bottom.
We have been waiting for a nice day to get it out and give it a clean but due to the size of it we struggled. We had to drape it over both our washing lines and it was still to big!
I start the day before we come home. Thinking about packing up and travelling long distances makes me feel really fed up. This is on our main holiday mind. On shorter stops I dont really mind any of it, Claire
Actually, thinking about it the worst bit is the pile of unopened post on the table!! You just know none of it will be nice. Might just start sending myself a postcard.
We came back on Saturday and today was the first day we've had to dry out the tent. Haven't got a washing line, so other half laid it out on the lawn. Which of course is still very damp, so while the topside was drying, the underneath certainly wasn't.
I think we've finally got it dry now by draping it off various pieces of garden furniture, but we've rolled it up loosely and put it in the conservatory, just in case. I'd hate to bag it up and find out next time we get it out that it's got an extra pretty black speckled decoration on it.
The not so fun part about coming home was unloading the car (about 12 trips into the house), and putting everything away.
I hate packing up to come home - especially if we have to pack away a damp tent, knowing that we'll have to erect it again in the garden before we can put it away properly.
We camped at Alnwick this weekend and it rained constantly. Had the choice of taking a couple of small tents which would have been easier to deal with wet but had to take the decision to take the big Diablo 900xp so there was space to sit around in - there was 7 adults, 4 kids and a 17 week old puppy all meeting up to fish a charity comp in memory of my dad. The tent was fantastic, no leaks and loads of room for all the adults to sit on chairs and chat while the kids sat in one of the bedroom pods. When it was time to pack up it was chucking it down and we were pleased that we had a tarpaulin to put down to fold the tent on. We pitched it in the back garden (a very tight squeeze) and we have just taken it down and put it away. It is so much harder taking it down in a confined space....my back is killing now but it was worth it to know that it is really dry and ok to be in the bag - yes it did fit
Packing the car to go, and then packing away to come home. Then of course when I get home the washing, putting stuff away etc.
I was away for a couple of nights last week, and it was pouring down when I put away. Managed to drape the tent over the line yesterday lunch time, and put it away yesterday evening.
