Could it have been a leech? Do we have them in this country? I found one on my foot when I was in Oz a few years ago. You're told to just leave them, and they will fall off when they have had their fill. Nice!!

We keep Giant African Land snails - not sure if I will be able to sleep at night now knowing I might be eaten while I'm asleep!!. They've just had babies as well !!!!! hungry babies!!!!
