we are all for solar power, we have a solar panel on our roof (house) for hot water which is great in the summer but poor in the winter when we need it most.
As for the tent we have 2 solar powered lanterns which are okay but the light is not great, would like to find more environmentally friendly items for the tent and the home,
a roll up solar panel would be good for laying on the roof of the tent, ideally complete with an assortment of connectors to charge and run various components.
Hi Mike.
We use a solar system in the warmer months, My panel is a 13amp briefcase type as it protects the panel in transit.
You can see my setup in the center photo of my Gallery.
This set up will keep me going for 14 nights. That is starting with a fully charged 12 volt leisure battery 3 12volt strip lights, we also use a Radio for news and weather reports, a 10" DVD player for val to watch a film at night, these are run on 230 volt AC through an 150 w inverter, we also can charge small battery's and run my 120mm home made fan. on 12 volt and that I am afraid is the maximum we can expect to run and last 14 nights. This would be with average Sunshine for a British summer
Rex
PS Found a photo of the panel in use at Folkstone C&C Club Site, you can see it on the ridge of the tent, the front of the tent is facing south. Top one in the gallery.

We have a 45w solar panel which keeps our 110 battery charged. It sits on the roof of the caravan attached by suckers. I also have a brilliant little radio/torch which is powered by solar, wind up or batteries. It cost a fiver at Netto several years ago among their oddments for sale.
we have a solar panel; on the roof of the shed on our allotment, all it does is keep the 12v battery charged up and that in turn is connected to a strip light for when we are potting late at night (this brings a new meaning to lunar planting lol)
We use solar panels at our field for keeping the horses electric fence charged, which works a treat. I'd really like to get a solar set up to use when camping at some point though. The only downside is that it is more stuff to carry.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
