am I noticing a trend here? I have only looked at 2 of the recipies 'the pink stuff' and 'sweetcorn bread' and somehow both of them contained alcohol
We normally get those throw away BBQ's which can be very temperamental but when they work they are nice. Find a nearby butcher and get local sausages and burgers and serve with salad and potatoes cooked on the gas burner. With a nice glass of wine of course
If we are travelling to a site after work and setting up we take a home cooked caserole or get one of thoses ready cooked chickens so that we dont have to faff around cooking after setting up the tent.

Good luck
ps edited to add that link looks great - thanks
Hi everyone,
We also take a "faff free" meal with us on first night after putting up our tent, our fav is home made bolognese with a packet of gnocchi (as the gnocchi only take 3 mins to cook)! All washed down with a well earned bottle of red between us!
Other stuff, especially if you are feeding kids is think "one pot" stuff, such as a stir fry, sausage (spicy if you want) casserole with rice, veggie curry, that sort of thing.
I think the thing will be buying at the local shops to eat that night, as I should imagine you will have limited keeping things cool options with no EHU?
Finally, you have always got the takeaway option, along with having a nice meal out in the local pub/restaurant!
Yeh, it has to be a take-away on holiday. The only thing that should be cooked is bacon and eggs for breakfast, there is nothing like the smell of bacon on a campsite in the morning, unless it's your neighbours and that is just torture and cruel.
last time i cooked bacon egg mushrooms beans etc and i ended up cooking it for our neighbours as well lol at one point i thought there were a canteen que outside my tent. I would love to go camping now but girlfriend dont like the idea.
Our quickie that suits all the family is jacket; peas; and let each choose a filling. We have as many as 8 different selections, but must admit we use the gas cooker. You can actually buy cooked jacket pots, (I think) which just need heating. With 3 or 4 teenies, in the party, it is hard to please em all. Though they all love sos/egg/chips, but there are limitatations.
Hi, has anyone used a slow cooker with their EHU in their tent to cook a casserole or something like that?
They've got some on sale in our local TJ Hughes for a tenner and was thinking about getting one? I like the idea of coming back to a pot of chilli or beef in ale after a hard day enjoying myself on hols!
