Ive had a similar experience, my wife and I went to Cornwall last year, it took us about 7 hours to get there.
The weather was fantastic on the way down, but when we got to the site, it started to rain heavily, and blowing a gale. If you ever want to see a starfish impression, you should have seen my wife trying to hold the tent down whilst I was trying to put the poles in, nightmare. Because of the wind, I damaged one the poles, the wind took the tent and bent the pole. Anyway after several hours, we managed to set up camp. But our neighbours where terrible. When we where eating our tea, the kids, and the grandparents would all come and talk to us and bring there seats over to sit down with us. In the end we would have to ask them politely to leave. And at night time, we would be in bed, and they would come back from the onsite pub swearing, being noisy, and I dont know how many time I heard the children being slapped. But the icing on the cake was one day the mother of the children had come over and said that our dog had bitten on of the children. Well of course I was devestated, told the dog off ( no hitting involved) and apologised. But a couple of hours later, I happened to walk out of the tent and saw the little kid who allegedly my dog had bitten, kicking the living daylights out of our dog. Well that was it, my patience is normally quite good, but I just completely lost it, went over to them and just let rip, luckily, we where moving that day, to another campsite for our second week.
But I told the owners of the campsite that I wouldnt be coming back. I can have a laugh like the rest of them, but that really annoyed me.

Is there such a thing as camping etiquette? I mean, in our experience, if someone buys a cheap tent and it leaks (read waterfall), that the neighbours watch you take it down bewteen showers, watch your drowned rat kiddies sitting in a car and then laugh as you struggle against wind and rain to get a 'proper' tent up, are they supposed to be like that?
We were both brought up better than to be like that. Mr and Mrs Outwell next door stuck their rich noses in the air and laughed. My mum would be horrified if that had been me doing it to someone else. Mind you, their kids were just as bad.
I'm all for helping anybody whether we're camping or in everyday life. It's not just about camping, its about people being downright ignorant and rude.
I read your post several times and can't quite see where the site owners were involved. Am I missing something?
After all, it could have been just your luck for this family to have followed you to the next site. If so, would you have told that site owner that you wouldn't be coming back as well?
My apologies not very clear, I have missed a few important bits out, even reading it myself it doesnt make sense. The incidents I have explained where just a couple of things mentioned, this went on for a few days. But being the people that me and my wife are, we did'nt want to cause a fuss. We did eventually complain to the owners of the campsite about the noise that our neighbours where causing, but nothing much was done about it, we asked if we could move but they said the site was full, even though there where a few pitches available where we where pitched. The owners did'nt seem bothered, even when our pole was damaged when we got there we asked if they could tell us where the nearest camping shop was, and they told us but with great effort. So that's the reason why we told them we would'nt be back. Hope this makes more sense.

ferrari, that really pulled on my heart strings. Finding some kid kicking the living day lights out of your dog??? I think I would have found it hard to restrain myself to not do the same to..... no Im not gonna say it. I would have been absolutely livid. Some people would say its just a dog, but its far from it, its your pet, part of the family, if I saw anyone or anything hurting my cat, my baby, it would send me into a rage and my blood would boil!!! Hope your doggy was OK after that. Makes my experience sound very tame.
Yes bramble (our dog) was fine, I know for a fact that bramble would'nt bite, or hurt anyone for that matter. She just a very excitable dog border terriers are, and very spoilt as well.

am i the only one who feels uncomfortable with amnesia's dig at gypsies - what has that got to do with anything? i doubt any self-respecting gypsy would be seen dead in a tent anyway!
I dont believe amnesia's comment regarding gypsies was meant to personally insult anyone, I think it was purely based on the reputation gypies carry. Not all gypsies live up to their reputation, some just want to live peacefully and be part of the local community. Unfortunately, it is a classic case of the minority spoiling it for the majority, and it is this minority that has given gypsies a bad name. I sincerely apologise that you have been made to feel uncomfortable, in a discussion/topic that I started. Can I just ask, before anybody takes offence at what you just said - what on earth is wrong with tents?!!! A lot of members of this forum actually own tents!!
Shoot them...its the only way....the Chav gene pool needs to be drained.
Your story sounds like a bad dream...We just got back from camping and had someone being ery noisy after midnight..I went and tapped on his awning and said;
"We've had a number of complaints about the noise now...please keep it down on we'll have to ask you to leave tonight"

If I saw somebody else's kid kicking my dog I wouldn't be responsible for my actions!

Brilliant idea 5Fathers! I guess this will only work on sites where the warden doesnt disappear off home at 3pm in the afternoon and doesnt re-appear until 12noon the following day!!! (as on Thorpe park!) So the idiots next door would know its not the real warden! The warden even had the cheek to say to us something like "its ok, I wont spare you a thought when Im at home tonight in my nice quiet house in front of the fire"!! So not only was he not willing to help us, he took the p*** out of us too!!
Talk about dereliction of duty. If you got his name I would write to the management and complain about both his words and his actions throughout your ordeal.
