I know this is a stupid question, but what exactly is a pup tent? I keep seeing mention on various threads.

Hi
Thats and interesting definition. I always took it to mean a small tent associated with a larger pitch especially when booking into a campsite.

It's a little tent you have beside your main tent for kids to sleep in. Here ------------- Debbie

Kelly you're not on your own, I did ask the question!! And thanks guys for all the responses. It's clear now. Another stupid question, can you cook in them or should you only use a utility tent? And what's the difference between a pup tent and a utility tent? Sorry that's two questions!

A pup tent is usually a small tent that is used for sleeping. A utility tent is usually a square frame tent that you can stand up in.
I used mine as a kitchen tent. Home from home!

Especially liked the tip with the cat litter! Having 2 large dogs I get lots of condensation, and now I have a tent with a SIG I might be swimming out of the tent in the mornings, lol. So going to give the litter a try next time I'm out & about.
Cheers.

You can thank the members of the UKCS for all the tips. I think they are inspired, especially the one about the wellies.
