just want to say first of all that I thank everyone for every post on here, I have been watching and learning for a while, you all seem really friendly and I have learnt so much.
I never thought that I would ever go camping, I loved my home comforts too much, but in September last year we decided to get a dog. We are in our 40's and only been together 4 years, married 2, and needed a baby substitute!!! We have 5 kids between us but we wanted one of our own.......so along came Rosie, our Lab X.
She has been great for the family but we soon realised that dogs and holidays didn't always go together. I could not imagine leaving Rosie behind when we went away, (she is a rescue dog and I didn't want to put her in kennels that would remind her of her past.
Anyway, this lead me to think of other ways of having a holiday. One evening, after a couple of glasses of red wine I said "lets get a tent".
Best thing I have ever said, we have been away 3 times so far this year and I cant imagine a better holiday than the freedom we have experianced with our tent. I have become addicted to buying camping stuff and this website.
I was a complete novice but reading what you have had to say on here has turned my world around, any doubts and I just log on to ukcampsite.
ayup miduck and welcum to the best site on the net.
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
Hi Rosie, I only got into camping 3yrs ago as an accident (borrowed my bruv's 2 man, got up before anyone else in the morning, watched the sun glistening on the sea in the Gower) and was hooked! We love it, with or without the kids (4 in total) rain or shine. Have fun, enjoy the freedom and the relaxation.
Welcome to the forum Rosie Addicted already? I hope you know there is no cure for being addicted to this forum - we've all tried to give it up, without success
Welcome to the site. I didn't start camping unitl I was in my 40s either, and it's one of my biggest regrets!! I always thought I'd hate it and I couldn't have been more wrong, I loved it!
We also have a black lab, Bailey, who like your Rosie is a rescue dog so I fully understand your feelings about kennels. Bailey has been twice but only for weekends when it was impossible to take him away with us and we had nobody to look after him, he coped well with it, but was soooooooooooo pleased to see that we had gone back for him at the end! Next week will be his first camping trip (we only got him in October) and I think he's going to love it.
As for the addictions to this site and buying camping stuff, don't worry about it, it happens to us all
