Leave it spread down your stairs overnight. dry it off with a towel first, don't leave it any longer, the damp smell will spoil your camping even if it doesn't get mildew. Its worth putting up with the inconvenience to save your tent, mines all over the living room now, wasn't very wet,just sig really, but after paying hundreds of pounds, I'm not letting a bit of rain ruin it for me.
another thing to consider is asking the local community centre or church hall if you could erect it there, for a few hours , for a donation, a fiver or tenner would be money well spent to save an expensive tent, i f you really haven't got room to dry it anywhere else.
