Hi dawsoctor
I use the Met Office UK:forecast. I don't think it is realistic to expect anyone to be able to accurately forecast the weather for more than 48 hours but they seem to be able to predict wind for much longer periods,
If the met office predicts two weeks of rain and winds they will not be too far out as most of the time now days they predict the lot and say changeable
What we do is if they definitely predict long days of rain and wind we will give it a miss, but go on any other forecast.
Regards
Rex.

We always plan our weekends around the forecast and that means we hardly ever get away! Early may bank holiday for Anglesey was supposed to be rain and sunny intervals and this we can deal with lol. In the end we had 1 bad day out of 5 and the other 4 were glorious, all had lovely tans from sitting on the beach.
We are going away for 10 days second week in june and will go rain or shine as long as gale force winds aren't forecast. I will still read the forecast before hand though and probably depress myself

The forecast was showing sunny days for this weekend but when I checked today its changed to rain showers every day , we'll still be going but will keep fingers crossed that the sun will return for some of the time......... after our Easter camp we will not go if the weather is set to be really bad, especially if high winds, but showers will not put us off.
Well we checked both the BBC and Metcheck before we set off, both incidentally were totally different, was a bit of a mixed bag, but did not forecast the amazing thunderstorm we had a 4 o'clock this morning, amazing. But, then the temp got up to the twenties today, so I'm not complaining. As i've said before, if you have no choice when you take your holidays, if you don't go you don't get a holiday as you can't do it any other time, so for us, we go whatever, the only thing that would stop us is if there was a flood warning in place for where we were going.

We are off on Friday for 4 nights. This morning metcheck forecast sunshine YEYYYYY this afternoon they have forecast rain and cold BOOOOOO.
I did say to hubby this morning when it was looking good that was it I wasn;t checking it again as that was the forecast I wanted. Should have stuck to my guns!!!!
Has no one heard of Sod's Law?!!!!! Just had three great days on Dartmoor (Sat night a bit on the blowy and wet side but the vango oregon 800 stood up to it well!) even though the forecast was appalling for this region!
Seem to remember a Nike advert.....
Or was it the Boy Scouts motto!!
We seem to be in a period of micro-climates ( rain up the road but sunshine downalong) all very bizarre.
I have yet to find a reliable weather forecast. On Friday evening we took 23 Cubs camping near Birmingham and the weather was poor. The Metcheck forecast was also poor for Saturday but improving on Sunday so we decided to brave the elements. In fact the weather got worse and we had to abandon the camp late Sunday afternoon. I am glad that we decided to do it as the weather was then even worse on the Bank Holiday Monday and we had toyed with the idea of holding camp until Monday. I do still browse the forecasts and if the outlook is grim I try to prepare the best I can for it. I think you just have to think on your feet and decide what is best at the time.
