On the subject of holiday attire, suits and ties are often to be found on camp sites when the great & good from the CCC gather together to preen themselves.
Any regional meeting is usually an excuse for the various dignitaries to throng the platform - and, whether they be such august personalities as a Regional Chairman or a lowlier functionary such as The Assistant Membership Secretary Of The Jockey Wheel Winders Association (North West Area), they will all wear suits and ties, not to mention splendid mayoral chains of office that would make Boris Johnson green with envy.
Rest assured, they take themselves *very* seriously indeed! - not one of the great conquerors of history has ever possessed such a clear realisation of their own worth than the Officers of the Camping & Caravanning Club! ;)

The experience i had last week was not arguing but the opposite out of all the field they could've camped they had to be next to us and our 5yr old and to top it all they BOTH started snoring after and when they were'nt snoring yes you guessed it they were at it again
Returnee....Firstly - congratulations on your decision to re-join the canvas clan....mad fool that you surely must be.
Secondly....I hope you write...have been... or are soon to be published. If not, you should be. You're evidently are a learned chap(ess) and in 2008, sadly, not the sort of camper I'm used to rubbing shoulders with.
