Good for you Big Momma, we really want to keep hold of this Diablo but its no-goer.
Can anyone confirm if the Outwell Montana 6 is acceptable for the C&CC please? Looking at the size specs is says its 415cm wide plus a proch which is 115cm making it 530cm wide. Would they be strict about it being a whole 30cm over the 5m limit? I really like the look of this tent, except for it not having a very large porch area, but dont want to bit restricted by the stuffy sods at the C&CC again if its too big.
Slinger - only the C&CC can give you a definitive answer.
However, in their June magazine they are testing different family tents, including the Monty 6. The article states that they were originally going to test the Outwell Idaho L until they realised it was too big too fit on one of their pitches (guffaw), (having in a previous article billed the Idaho as possibly the perfect family tent - more guffaws)
So, I deduce from the article in the June issue that the Monty 6 WILL fit! However, you can get a side extension for the Monty which gives a lovel dry porch space to eat and cook under - but adding this would take the width of the unit over 5m!!!!
This is why we went for the Vermont - as it's 5m wide and 7m long and has a fab big porch at the front.
Hi, if you are flexible about not staying at a C&CC site then have a look at Parkfoot just outside Pooley bridge. I've been there loads of times with my Diablo 600 and never had a problem.

I have a Vermont XL and didn't know about the pitch sizes. I may be able as a previous poster has said to fit it exactley onto a pitch but what about parking my car and trailer and having somewhere for the kids to sit and play ( I don't let them infridge on others pitches). Have been away camping literally hundreds of times and usual pitch size has been 10 x 10 which gives us lots of room and privacy from our neighbours, don't really want to be squashed in like a sardeen thank you. ............. My tent is not oversized it is the perfect size for my family and I will continue to use it on campsites that have reasonable pitch sizes. Looks like they wont be C&C ones. Thanks for the warning.
I think you might have got the wrong idea about C&CC sites here. The reason they restrict unit size is to maintain the 6m fire gap between units ie the pitches are at least 11m wide so that if you pitch a 5m wide tent in the centre of the pitch then you'll have a 3m margin on each side of the tent, as will your neighbour, thus making the 6m gap. (Guylines are allowed in this gap.) You are allowed to park your car, sit or play in this gap area as long as you're on your own pitch. 3m is plenty room to park a car on one side, for example. You're just not allowed to pitch more tents in there. For length, the pitch would normally be 11m too but as you'd normally have either a boundary at the rear or a road access to the front, they give you a 7m unit length.
As a result it's the complete opposite of being squashed like sardines. The pitches are big but as they're less than half full of tent, the effect is of a lot of space between units. More breathing room, more parking and play room and a lot more privacy.
A great campsite halfway between Windemere and Newby Bridge is Park Cliff.
The wardens are really friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble - even entertaining the children!
The site is beautiful, spotlessly clean and well maintained.
No problem with pitch sizes as there are 3 sites for tenting - 1 field with electrics, ! huge fieldwithout and spaces in with the vans.
We went a few years back for one week in the summer and ended up staying all summer and leaving the van there for weekends till end of season (we only live 2 motorway junctions away!)
We're new to camping and have just bought an Outwell Hartford L - but have previously been caravanners.

Have a great time wherever you fit in!!
That looks a nice site, but would cost us £41 a night i'm always told Trevornick is quite expensive, but it's not even costing us as much as that to go there.
------------- May/June - Spring Valley
Aug/Sept - Leekworth
Prices seem to have shot up a bit over the last couple of years, though they are well worth a visit if you want to treat yourselves fro a long weekend or even better mid-week when all the 'look at the set up I have' campers/vanners are not about!
We have a vango 600 and stayed on ccc sites last year with no problems and never had to pay more, we didn't book online but always just phoned up (Eskdale and Troutbeck), always with EHU and had no issues whatsoever. I didn't realise these tents were such an 'issue' as I wouldn't be without mine and it certainly isn't any bigger than half of the other tents you see on sites
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
