I once bought a tent for a party off ebay for 15 quid inc p&p & it wasn't what I expected either - it was quite good.
but on a more serious note, to get a refund from the seller you will have to return the item (royal mail signed for) & the seller is under no obligation to pay the return postage or to refund the p&p. It may be cheaper for you to keep the tent & leave the seller suitable feedback, & its always handy to have a spare tent for friends or emergencys.
I forgot to add that by leaving more bad feedback & poor detailed seller ratings (the stars) you will cause the seller big problems maybe even a 30 day suspension, - this may give you a bit more bargaining power if you still wish to return the item
Looking at the listing I'd say to call him a shyster from having 1 neutral comment, none bad, is a little harsh.
Though it does appear he is mis-selling the item by placing a picture that is clearly not a 3 man 1 sleeping area tent. Reading the description, it is also mis-leading, IMHO it should clearly state that the picture is not a true representation of the product for sale. Though it states 3 man pics to follow, it appears they never did.
The picture looks more like a san remo 600 type. Contact him, give him some time to reply, then put in your disputes. As with the feedback, give him some time to reply and hopefully sort it out for you. If no word, put the disputes in and bad feedback.
Hi Kelb, sorry to here about your misleading tent, why dont you have a look at ours that i put on e-bay tonight at least i give an honest description of what it actually is like & the pictures are one's iv'e taken.
Here is the item number because i dont know how to get the link up.
yes thats the seller I bought it off, the description below is what I thought I was buying was expecting a 1 bed tent with sort of canopy thingy
3 man tent with bag
1 sleeping areas
3 man pictures to follow
no reserve
this is bad, that ebayer cannot be trusted, look "pictures to follow" which means he was knowingly selling a tent that the picture did not represent! i'd take it straight to ebay!
i've never had a prob with ebay. i always check peoples feed back and even if they've only got a couple of negative comments i pay attention to why they have them and read them before i decided to buy from them. have bought from a company on ebay with only 95% feedback, but the feedback only seemed to relate to a perticular type of item, but not what i bid on, and i was fine. i also set myself a spend limit - the amount on the item i am not scared to lose incase i do end up dissapointed.
Add the link through the hyperlink option when posting and it seems to work. If you just paste in the ebay address which starts off http cgi dot ebay dot co dot uk this site seems to add the rover bit. That appears to make the link not work. If you add a hyperlink the rover part is still added but it works.
Thanks to both who invited me to look at their tents, Angie yours is what I was expecting the other one to be but with just 1 bedroom not 2
I have heard back from the seller and he has offered a refund, just need to sent the tent back now, so I will have to wait to get the funds back before I will be able to get another tent.
to be honest, I buy alot of stuff off ebay, have done for a good 6 - 8 years now and never been ripped off in the past! I have a bad rating of about 93%!
I have emailed the seller so I will let you know what happens.
Thanks for everyones in put, now going to try to look for another tent, really wanted one similar to the picture in the dodgy listing, if anyone knows of one up for grabs?wanted it for my trip to Tremorvu.
93% i would cancel any bids by someone with an appalling % as that
how on earth did it get that low
just had a look at my ebay account re my 93% curious myself!
I have 1 negative as a seller where the buyer advised a wrong delivery address and gave me negative saying that I was quick enough to cash the cheque but delay on the goods, I resent at my cost and was out of pocket, that was way back in Nov 04
and I have 2 negative from Nov 07 where I was mid bid, had a car crash, won bid, but unable to contact the sellers as I was not home for a couple of weeks so didnt pay and explained to the sellers what had happened
I think thats quite a low % seeing there are only 3 negative feedback, dont know if they will stay there for ever more or eventually my % will go back up?
