Hi, haven't really bothered about this in the past but got lots a new gear for this year and thinking about camping/tent/equipment insurance, anyone got insurance if so who with and how much .

We found out that our camping gear is insured on our Contents and buildings insurance...even if we are away with it all ...check yours out... ring your insurance and ask

We have our camping gear and trailer listed sepaetately on our household policy at no extra charge. Just make sure to check the policy carefully so you know what's covered and what's not.

Our camping equipment is covered at home, on the campsite and in transit. However if we laeve the car and trailer unattended we are not insured unless evrything is locked away in the boot of the car. I have queried this with the brokers and apparently this is fairly standard practice. I pointed out that the trailer is kept locked and can be locked to the hitch if we leave the car - but to no avail. I guess we have to take the risk and remember we are not insured if we leave the gear in the trailer.
