hi Janette, welcome to the site, and well done , it sounds as if you got it done okay for the first time.
Ripples in the groundsheet could be because of uneven ground slope, or even the roof sleeves not being perfectly central over the poles. did you peg the 4 cormers down quite taut before you started. Were the tension straps adjusted, this might help. its just teething problems really ,nothing major. Just a case of fiddling with, and practise makes perfect.
The side canopy is a bit of a nuisance on my sisters nevada too, same problem, it seems that the pole is too long and pushes into the tent and pulls on the zip on hers. . some people have put cable ties through the holes in the cap the pole sits in and tied it to the pole to relieve some of the pressure.
And the porch groundsheet question keeps coming up a lot here too, it seems as if it fits either way, and nobody has said for definite which is right or wrong yet.
I 'll have a search through for the pitching instructions and post them up if I find them.
