Sorry folks, I need to get this straight in my head and at the moment its as clear as mud in there.!!

I'm the practical one, yet this is something I am unable to get my head round, some of you will undoubtedly look skyward and say its a woman thing!

we have bought a 12v cool box which plugs into the cig socket in the car, no problem there as long as the car is running.

We have a 12v  leisure battery and at home we have a bettery charger.

We are staying at the weekend on a field no ehu (Friday - Sunday)

With a power inverter attached to the battery will this run my cool box and my radio?

As we are totally on our own, no houses or people to disturb would we be better with a small petrol generator?

Looked at solar power thread and for this year its too much as we have only just started

If the battery ends up totally flat will our charger at home be enough to bring it back to fully charged?

You don`t mention the amp Hr rating of your battery, but which ever size it is you will not have sufficient power to power your cool box for any length of continuous running.

Do you have additional equipment which requires a power inverter? These ingenious bits of kit are designed to produce 240 volts from 12 volts but they flatten batteries in minutes if not being charged from a vehicle.

Could it be that you are confusing a battery eliminator with a power inverter. The eliminator will reduce 240 volts to 12 to run the cool box from the mains.

I occaisionally use a small generator when appropriate to charge the leisure battery via an automatic battery charger. but realistically very rarely have recourse to it.

You can use a set up in your car to charge the leisure battery via an isolating relay,when the engine is running.

Fridge will flatten the battery but for lights and charging small items Phones etc. it will be fine if used as 12 volt and you need on of these.

Inverters take power to work so if possible avoid them.

For a weekend the frozen 1 litre pop bottles should be enough to keep cool box cool.

Beer in a bucket of water works as well 

Had a genny when we had a boat and it will eventually get on your nerves also you will not want it running all night.
