Hi, we're very new to the joys of camping, and having done a test run on our new tent, it has left me with a question.

Having tried our tent in our back garden, we noticed that we had a big gap (around 6 inches or more) around the bottom of our tent. The tent itself seemed quite taut, so how can we get the bottom edge of the tent to be nearer to the ground?

I feel a bit daft asking, but wondered if anyone else had the same problem.

Thanks.

I'm new to camping as well, I thought that this was normal and that its only tents with SIGs that do not have the gap. Our bedroom pods fit in with sig so the gaps do not cause problems. The living area has a ground sheet, but we tend not to use it.

interested to see what everyone else says.,

its there to stop condensation ,they can get a little draughty at times but more air is better than drips.
the gaps should only be around the bedroom areas where the bedroom groundsheet upper wall protects you from driven rain.
dont make the mistake of putting in an extra groundsheet as any rain will come in and go under your bedrooms ,most will simply soak in the gap between the tent bottom and bedrooms as its designed to without a undergroundsheet ,you can put one in (so it keeps your bedroom groundsheet clean) but make sure its the same size as the bedroom.
its fine once everythings in place you will hardly notice them

Thankyou, we are going away for a week soon, so I'll see how we get on. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us, and give a trouble free week.
