Some nice pic's of sites posted which I enjoyed looking at, so cheers. I was tempted to show some pics of my site, but figured I'd compromise it's location, which I've been advised not to do!

Still, if camping was only about living in a tent on a campsite, I'd never have got the tent in the first place.

Well, you take a portable camping toilet, and have you tried solar showers yet? Again, portable and very easy to use! As for play areas! My kids are 5 and 7 and they loved it. Still, naturally it isn't ideal for staying awhile but for getting away from the nattering!!

So where do you put your waste water? Rex is right (again) in what he has posted...

We are talking about sites without heavy traffic and generally light use (no major cooking applicances or complex kit. It's camping at it's most basic.

The rules for wild camping state "Toilet duties should be performed 30m (100ft) from water,  downstream and the results buried using a trowel" I also treat "grey water" in the same way and filter out any residue which gets bagged and placed in the next available bin.  If you wash utensils straight after using them you don't need detergants. We often live off camping food which just requires heating in a bag/tin and so only have boiled (but cooled) water to dispose of.

Wild camping involves a responsibility to make sure the site you leave is as clear if not better than before you arived. It isn't for everyone especially those who need mod cons or even the squeamish but for some of us who enjoy the peace and tranquility it's so worth the extra work.

Anyway I do believe Rex wasn't anti wild camping as such from his post, just potentially the size of the tent.

agreed
