I had a practise putting my tent up in the garden (and was quite pleased that I managed it all on my own!) There wasn't enough space to do the guy ropes properly but can anybody tell me if - assuming I had more space and had done all the ropes - I have done this even remotely right?
We're going on our first ever camping trip in two weeks time and I don't want the tent to fall down in the middle of the night - lol

Looks better than my tent which I put up at the weekend in Scotland ! - sure the dog didnt help you?
That is my lab puppy and if you call "helping" doing zoomies in the tent while I'm trying to put the bedrooms in, "christening" the SIG or "testing" the tent pegs for me then yes, I guess he did help. My older dog just sat and watched
Hi Baby Elephant, first an foremost, you've got the important bit right. You've included the Pupsta!!
Your main flex poles need aligning, just slightly to take up the slack, and then readjust the guys, and you'll be just peachy!!
Have fun!!
Chunks!!
By flex poles do you mean the fact that you can see "slack" and the tent dipping between the poles? If that's what you mean then I understand! I couldn't pull the tent taught because the garden wasn't big enough but I on a proper pitch I will be able to set it out properly. I was concerned about the guy ropes since I didn't really know what to do with them and the tension thingies!
Ian you are more than welcome to camp in my garden anytime. We have full facilities (including a freezer for your ice blocks, toilets, showers, washing machine etc ) plenty of homemade wine in the garage and even a spare bedroom if the weather gets too bad (though you'd have to share the bed with the dogs )
Ian - yep, the Vango Yukon 800 probably won't fit in my garden!
Chunksta - yes, we have quite a few more dog toys around the house - as fast as I put them in the toy box they get them out again.
Skatty - it is in the right loop (I think). That was my problem to start with I couldn't figure out which loop to put round the peg because the plastic slider just kept slipping. But once I'd done it like in the picture the slider would tighten and stay put on it's own.
Edited to add: I've just watched the Vango video again and the guylines are right. You wouldn't believe how many play, pause, rewind, play, pause, rewind I did just to get an image of the guylines - lol
