hi just got back last night after two weeks in cornwall.i must say at times it was a challange to do the washing , our site only had one washer and one dryer for over 70 familys ! the weather was really bad for most of the time but we all had a great holiday
- though it was the red flags on the local beaches when the sun came out that was the real problem for me.
Rain is OK if you have plenty of room in your tent and non-beachy places to go. (I luckily spotted the small streambefore it made a lake on my groundsheet.)
I ended up in my emergency tent in the north of the county and managed 3 swims in 2 days.
Hopefully I'll resolve the broken pole problem.
I can't recommend Delta pegs strongly enough.

we usually take my pop up quechua as a spare, just in case, but we haven't needed it yet!
Ours survived remarkably well, considering the poles were taking the strain of the annexe too. It was our third windswept trip to dorset so our bedroom poles are already a bit bowed :(
Was it the pole that broke ?? We carry spare joints but haven't had to use one yet.
We did lose a delta peg but i still swear by them!
My son hopes to use our Khyam XL in cornwall next week ..........

People have assured me they were particularly extreme conditions at Trevedra - maybe the sort of winds Rex would insist warranted breaking camp.
I lost one rapidex joint once the front left hand pole (facing the prevailing wind) actually broke and the other poles took the strain. Luckily I only ended up with a couple of teeny holes in the fly.
I'm hoping I won't have to pay too much for replacement poles - I reckon I need to replace all 8 sections as they will all have been over-stressed - maybe I'll be able to get some generic pole lengths and cut them to size ...
I moved on to Treyarnon on the north coast afterwards and there were at least 3 "Classics" calmly sitting there which seem to have survived quite a buffeting - though probably not quite as bad as at Trevedra - which is only a few fields from the Atlantic.

hi campers, don't just set out regardless, the weather is atrocious here at the moment (devon/cornwall borders) and the wind is strong enough to damage tents and we're 10 miles from coast, and its not just raining, its cold - i had my heating on again tonight cos the house is getting damp. i haven't had a single night under canvas this year and i'm quite hardy - its just not worth sleepless nights and ruining your gear. i cant remember a summer THIS bad, can anyone else?
We have just returned from down near Penzance after 16 days under canvas with 3 chidren in tow! Ok so we have had better years but we had 5 fab days on the beach and the rest we just improvised either by playing games or walks! To enjoy camping to the max there is no point in being 'fair weather campers' as that's what makes our country stand out from the rest as you never know what the next day will bring! We love it come rain or shine! The top tip is definitely a very large canvas frame tentas they don't flap in the wind and rain is no where near as loud as on those polyester ones!
We returned on Saturday , after a week at Trevornick - 2 days of sunshine and then torrential rain and high winds the rest. We still had a brilliant time and , very surprisingly we all have a tan !
Glad we were in a euro tent as one night it sounded like we were going to take off , like the house in the Wizard of Oz - the next morning loads of tents had been damaged and lots of folk left. A beautiful part of the world and as long as you have wellies , waterproofs and wetsuits for the beach it is good fun !
