Hi, what shall we do?, we are supposed to going to whitby from sunday for 4 nights but really can't decide what to do.
We know about going prepared but having seem some of the sites in the lakes at the weekend i think even noah would be suprised at the water just laying on the fields.
Which is the most accurate weather forecast to use, one saying rain all week and another saying sunny with showers, i know which one i would like it to be.
Any ideas of what to do with a teenager if it is raining and a springer spaniel puppy in toe, alot of indoor places will be a no no because of molly (puppy) .
Sorry for rambling but really don't know what to do, really want to go but not if sat in a muddy rain bath.
Go for it, you could always come home early. It's better than deciding to stay home then the suns comes out! Get the teenager to walk the puppy! Tell them its a good way of attracting Girl/or boyfriends.
Do a JoanneDavies, go for it .If you have booked a site ring them on Sat. and ask what condition the site is in. At least the wind is from the south and not off the sea.

I say just go for it too. Never mind what the lakes looked like Whitby is on the other side of the country and you will be on HOLIDAY. if it rains, so what, you'll get wet..! You'd get wet if it rains at home and you go outside..! Where would you rather be in Whitby, enjoying the beach, or sat at home wishing you'd have gone.
Thanks guys, suppose like you say i would rather be in the tent than stuck at home, we will def ring the site the day before and then we will know for sure.
The weather does what the weather does. Buy your teenager a pairof waterproof trousers and wellies and let him go out with the dog on the beach - the dog won't care if it's raining. It's often better over there than here. Today in my bit of the Lakes it 's a much nicer day I can even now see blue sky appearing.
Whitby's really nice you'll love it - rain or sun. It's got to stop raining at some point and this weekend could be it!!
Agree witrh Taviour too.
When at home and it rains mine moan about being bored. When camping they get out there in waterproofs and we can't get them in!
Here at home with kids in and out for drinks and snacks every 5 mins the door bell ringing or garage door banging down,, me shouting take your wet shoes off - cannot wait to be in my tent!
OH just called to say m8 at work selling roof box, perhaps i can go to Woolworth sales find a few bargains to fill it up with!

While I no longer advise people (who are undecided) what to do, as in the past I have said "go for it" and then sat here feeling guilty when they have been back several days later with horror stories about wrecked tents, cars having to be dragged out of mudbaths by tractors etc., I can give advice on the weather. This is because I work in education and so have to endure this miserable climate for many more weeks than those who have to work for 47/48 weeks a year. Here is my forecast:
Irrespective of what the Met people say, it will probably be dull, wet and cold. This is because we have already had our ten days of "summer" for this year - six days in April (yes, it seems a lifetime ago now) and four days in July, the only four non-rainy days in the north since I finished work for the "summer" break at the end of June.
I was going to wish you "the best of British..." if you do go, but the wording is probably inappropriate. Therefore, good luck - you'll probably need it.
Hi Chorelydave, thanks for the advice, we are not to far away from you in sunny Euxton ( well its sunny today ).
We are going to go and have a great time no matter what the weather as this is our summer holiday, fortunately we had already decided to book a cottage in west scotland for the week after so at least if we get wet the first week we should be okay the second week.
Yes, I am just about to set out to the local moors for a walk, as there has been very little opportunity to do so this "summer". Might as well make the most of the sun while it's out, because the forecast for the next two days is appalling.
Have a good time. One thing about going to west Scotland, at least if is monsoons there it will keep those blo0dy midges away!
Go for it, whitby nice place plenty of things to see, & a bit rain when you are walking about won't hurt you, just seen forecast for North east coast & it's not to bad, take a visit to Heartbeat only 4 miles or so up the road & plenty walking for the dog, ENJOY
That's a lot of rain and the winds don't look too good either! Really in 2 minds what to do at the moment, don't want to risk damaging our tent on it's first outing. Bloody weather, sometimes I really hate this country (ok most of the time I really hate this country!).
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
