Well I havent camped since Whitsun, and am soooo... excited getting all the camping gear out, and making the trailer bigger this week.
We go on Saturday, only an hour away from home, but I cant wait!
I have borrowed wellies and waterproofs, because the forecast is rubbish for Saturday and I fully prepared now for pitching in the peeing down rain.
But I will definatley not be cancelling because I know what the forecasts are like, you can never tell wether you should take notice or not, so I think it is better to carry on as planned but just be prepared! ( Oooh I sound like a boy scout / brownie!!) Haha!
The forecasts are so changeable and quite often wrong, that you can only take them with a pinch of salt. We have been forecast plenty of rain down here, but when it hasnt come its been really quite hot and sunny.
Well heres hoping and wishing everyone else planning to go away this next few days, that we do get less of the rain and more of the sun!!
That's the spirit! I am off to devon on Saturday and I really don't give a damn about the weather. Sure, it would be great to have good beach weather, but the best thing about camping is family time, and I will be getting that in spades, whatever the weather....
As long as you have confidence in your tent and other equipment stuff the weather, we've camped in pouring rain five times this year, loved every minute
We have great confidence in our tent, it withstood Whitsun very well! Torrential rain and gale force winds on a seafront site.
And we shall be prepared for all weathers, which does mean taking slightly more stuff. But thats not a problem, with the newly extended trailer!
Have just sent an e-mail to the site though, to see if the pitch is available tomorrow, but its a bit of a longshot, I am sure they were booked, and my husband has still got to work tomorrow evening, so would mean we would have to pitch in afternoon, then he would have to travel back to work, then return after work or join me and kids again in morning. Will have to wait and see on that one!
Either way we are off Saturday morning! We have got friends going there on Friday, so if its really bad we can sit in there tent and drink wine, til a dry spell comes along!!! (What a shame!!)
We are off next Thursday to Pembrokeshire come rain or shine. We know our Vermont XL is sound, it has withstood nigh on gale force wind and torrential rain and never moved. We will take stuff to do inside if the weather is baor thed and just hope f best. At the end of the day we are together under canvas and that`s all that matters.
Off to Cotswold next friday don't care about weather. Good site, good tent, good friends is all we need!

We've off to Brighton this afternoon for the first family camping trip. I'm ignoring the changeable weather and the forecast of strong coastal gusts over the next few days. Will just have to bang those pegs in a bit further!
After all the self pitying and general despondency we are going!!
Higher Moors, a small site with huge level pitches just down the lane from Treago Farm at Crantock, Cornwall. A quick ring this morning to check state of site to see if it will be worth putting a second ground sheet down under the main living area of our Sunncamp Palace frame tent.
Let's hope that despite the improbability of a blazing hot conclusion to August, we wil at least get a more settled period than of late.
We are still going this weekend and never thought any differently and I have just looked at Accuweather and all the days are now sunny spells which is a big change to what it has said for the last week which was very poor.
Forecasters what do they know???
Keep smiling and be happy!

Took kids to funfair last week, only stayed an hour as only had 300 quid on me!
We're off to Fforest fields on Sunday, OH has been panicking about the weather, but after proving to him that every cottage, static and chalet in the UK is booked up for next week, he's feeling happier about camping, knowing that we don't have any other option!!
I don't care either way, we'll make the best of it and whatever the weather camping is always far better than being tied to the house and feeling obliged to do housework!
