Just returned from a glorious few days in Oban. Before i went up i was urged to cancel by family who on watching the weather forcasts thought it would be a wash out. I decided to go for it and if it was would carry on as normal with wellies and waterproofs.
As it was the weather was glorious myself and my daughter had a great time she even swam in the sea. We had a little rain on the second night and it poured on the drive home once we had left. My point is dont cancel and over worry with the weather sometimes it is painted worse than it actually is. The week before we camped at Pickering and whilst it rained nearly everyday it didnt really affect our holiday too much. Yes its much better when its sunshine but can still be very enjoyable when the weather is not the best. When the forecast is showers it can be a little one and the rest of the day in lovely sunshine so go for it and take it as it comes just take the waterproofs just in case and enjoy.
Glad you went for it and I had a great time. I just cancelled for the first time ever this week because of the weather - I so regret it as the weather was fine. My disappointment all week told me what I needed to know for next time - as you say hang it and have a good time.
We have just got back from a week in Bala. We had some heavy rain at the beginning of the week, but had dry spells in with the rain too. The forecast for the 2nd half of the week was heavy rain every day, and it was mainly dry.
I tend to look at the forecast, if it says it will be bad I take that as a worst case scenario and if good I take as a best case scenario and hence take clothes that we can layer accordingly and waterproofs and just get on with it.

just go for it is my motto. We came back a week ago from Brean. Every night the forecast was bad for the next day but in the end we had loads of sunny weather and the showers in the day were very short. It mostly rained in the evening and the kids dont care rain coats wellies on thed park great fun was had by all.
We were meant to be camping Fri and Sat night but cancelled because of the weather and wished we hadn't cos apart from it raining from about 4am to 8am this morning its been lovely and it had forecast rain from 12 noon yesterday all day and night for where we were going. Thats the last time we listen to the weather people, from now on we are going with our instinct!
We've just got back from Northumberland , my bf ( didn't come with us ) told me weather was going to be absolutley rubbish for the last few days and we'd get washed out . It's not rained since Tuesday dinner
I texted him and told him if we believed what forecasters told us we'd never leave the house .
Our trip for a few days next week was cancelled by the site as it is water-logged. All other sites in the area have suffered the same, we don't mind too much as we have just returned from another mini-trip where we had glorious weather against all odds. Just had to pack up in the rain when going home, but that's life.
