A big thnk you to whoever it was who came up with the glowsticks idea on a previous thread.

They are the ideal solution the the illumination problem especially where children are involved & I have to say it was that thread that gave me further inspiration.

Whilst the 6" sticks are great as nightlights & useful for connecting to zips etc. I also purchased a load of the much thinner 8" ones.

Useful on their own as they make great fun necklaces & bangles (thus making the children easily identiful when out at night), but also fantastic when connected to guy ropes. No more tripping over on the dark & can be connected with nothing more sophisticated than selotape.

Whats more 4 of them connected together make a perfect circle around the "Wee bucket"

What is more dirt cheap.

might have been me, not sure.....but as said previously 25 for £1 from poundland they are a godsend.

never thought about the bucket, lol.

edit, after re-reading, it probably wasnt me, the ones from poundland come with their own connectors, no need for sellotape.

Just a word of caution if you are leaving them in with children.  I have had my eldest literally screaming earlier as his glowstick burst, spilling chemical on his face about 3mm from his eye.  I dread to think what would have happened if it would have gone in his eye.  He is calm now but his face has been washed with about a litre of water.  I like the idea of putting them round the bucket though - I'll just keep my eldest well away from them.

You would have to go some to break one of the bigger ones.

Just given it a go & I couldn't split one.

Skatty - He managed to spray the glo stuff over the duvet and the carpet. I soaked the carpet in water so hopefully I've got away with it.  Will look at the bedding tomorrow.  They are now banned.

Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.

Done some further research & there is definately differing quality of these things.

Bought ours from Glow Bros via e-bay & I can honestly say the quality is fine & that there is no way even a grown man can break one of these without considerable effort

We also had some break over the weekend.  One all over my DD's ready bed and one when a 6 year old was activating his - it sprayed all over another child's face and clothing (including into her eyes).  Luckily all seems to be ok.
