Wine tastes so much better out of a proper glass, I've bought cheap ones from tescos, it fits inside the larger plastic tumblers I have for the kids, so quite protected in my box with a tea towel on top. Never broken one yet!
I use plastic wine glasses. I'd prefer to use proper glass ones but worry about one getting accidentally smashed: not in transit but on the pitch. Broken glass and camping doesn't sound like a very good mix to me! OK to use glasses inside your tent or van I guess as then its at your own risk, but I prefer to sit outside. MT

thanks guys, I like the idea of a straw and wine bottle, but the thought of a spinning tent puts me off. Cannot use real glass, far too clumsy when i've had one or two.
I use the disposable plasic ones for safety. When we were away in May, we took some cheap tumblers, had a couple on the table, poor Pip fell off his bike, knocking the table flying, we spent ages looking for pieces of glass. Fortunately he wan't cut - just upset because he'd fallen, and things had broken. I just buy ten for £1.09, which will withstand washing. Then if they do get broken I don't have any worries. If one pack last me the week, and I need to replace, its not going to break the bank either.
Wifey has just bought a pair of plastic wine glasses from asda, I think they were only £2.25 for the pair, and they are fine, and hold half a bottle! The plastic is quite thin so they are nice to drink out of. Too many young children in our group so glass is out of the question!
