We had some huge ones on ours, I was suprised it didn't put a hole through! We cleaned it off with a wet wipe, didn't want to use anything stronger. We also had some great ones on the car that we called our go faster shi t s!!!!
Eek, wet wipes? Alcohol and lanolin on your flysheet? Is this wise?
Best way to get bird poo off is to allow it to dry, brush off with something soft like a childs hairbrush then remove any residue with plain water. Or if it's really fresh use just water. Actually most bird poo just gets washed off in the rain and you're none the wiser. But it is best to go round your tenrt the day before you pack up and remove any dried poo or mud before you pack the tent, if possible.
what about muck from a spreader?? when in cornwall my partner had the unfortunate experience of the farmer in the next field spreading his muck on our tent (even though there was a hedgerow in the way), we treated the muck in the same way we do bird dirt, let ir dry then brush it off and leave the british weather to deal with the rest.

It's the wine that makes me say it
Simply wash off with a sponge and clean cold water. Try not to let the poo dry on though. A few years ago I failed to remove bird poo from the acrylic window of our caravan. It crazed the acrylic!!!
and for revenge: have a #2 in the first birdsnest you meet!
I'd let it dry out as well, then brush it off and clean the remnants with water. The sun (yes, even in the UK...) will bleech the canvas and the turd is gone.
Carefull with detergents and soaps as they could very well dissolve the waterproof of your tent.
