We have friends in Brighton who we were with last Wednesday and we were talking campsites and they told us they regularly visit St Ives, they love it because it's a natural site and you can have a campfire. Bit like back to basics.
Sorry to hear of your experience, OH just said had we been in the situation he would have emptied the Porta potti outside their door just before leaving!
I'd've been tempted to empty it inside their door, I think. My dogs would definitely have found their tent doorway an ideal spot for a dump!

I'd echo that. Their behaviour (even without the p***ing) was totally unacceptable in a public place. Being that drunk in a public place is illegal, never mind the threatening behaviour etc.
When we had a scary time with a large drunken party at Bodiam (lengthy drunken row followed by drunken 4x4 racing round the field at 3 am) I'd've called the police, but I couldn't get a signal on my phone.
I sometimes get the feeling that sites that allow camp fires also attract bad behaviour, don't know if that's a misapprehension or not.

In times like these, you can't even risk challenging a situation for fear of frightening reprisals, like we see in the newspapers everyday of ordinary decent people being hurt and killed for simply trying to right a wrong.
Oh Jo, I have just read this, I'm so shocked! Are the girls OK? I've only ever met really nice campers, but I'm sure that as with everything there are some watsits out there.
See I'm a bit volatile and although I'd be petrified of a confrontation, I'd probably of keyed their car or let their tyres down. I agree it sounds very childish but obviously trying to talk to them would have just resulted in a drunken slanging match.
Its such a shame that there are people like that about. I'm very sorry.
