I can just imagine the cries of small children now!!
Mind you I'm sure when I get up to go to the loo in the dead of night I look pretty scary anyway with my uncombed hair and mascara panda eyes. Kind of Russel Brand!!
Hi Bishy
I think that John Cooper gave you poor information.
I would love to find a way of heating my tent safely without EHU and without some sort of chimeny. Having said that, I've had a couple of coleman lanterns and stove burning in our buttoned up awning without much ventilation. I'm, remembering one particularly cold trip, but even when you do burn gas or unleaded, in our case, they create water vapour (and CO2, etc) which condenses as soon as the heat is turned off and makes stuff damp. And there is nothing worse than damp and cold. Like you say Bishy, we all lived to tell the tale and I guess it's easy to be OTT about this. But you probably wouldn't want to sleep with it on despite what John Cooper says.
I've never been camping with EHU, which has it's own safety issues, but I'd feel happier dealing with those rather than CO2 which I can't smell or see. Perhaps we will try EHU this year but part of me wants to get away from plugs and stuff.
Mind you, those romper teletubby suits could be the answer.
yea i agree with u. Think I'll stick to my electric radiator and lots of layers but thanks to everyone for the advice. definitely better safe than sorry cos I have 3 children so nothing is more important than their safety
I totally agree with u. I think I'll stick to my electric radiator and lots of layers in future, but will test heater in an enclosed space with my carbon monoxide detector. Thanks 2 u all for your advice, I will definitely take it seriously because I have 3 children and their safety comes first.
