Both the Kelly Kettle and the Swiss Volcano Stove are pretty popular on bushcrafting forums (as are all things stove-related!).

The Kelly Kettle comes in two sizes - the original is a bit bulky if you're not camping from a car, but the smaller sized one is more portable for backpackers (though not the "ultralighters") or carrying for picnics.

For making a brew they're fast, and what's more, a heck of a lot more fun than gas-burners!

Go on! Do deformed rabbit, it's my favourite!

pah amateur

I`ve used mine dozens of times & have never burnt my hand. You could just as easily burn your hand on anything hot.

hassle of finding twigs ? don`t you mean the hassle of keep having to buy gas & it running out just when you least want it to. If you`re camping you`re in a field. what`s near fields ? twigs !

don`t get me wrong there`s a time & a place for both but the kelly is a superb piece of kit

I wouldn`t be without mine

sounds like you just didn`t give it enough time to get used to it

nope, im a mountaineer so twigs are not around above 600m. I assumed grass would be good enough, as it states, but forgot it tends to be damp at that height. No have never ran out of gas ! Also i have seen people snapping stuff of live trees which makes me want to puke and a simple MSR burner with a windshield Pi**es all over a kelly kettle. Each to their own though! you lot keep messing around with your KK and i'll be up eaten, cup of tea and gone while you find your fuel

but neither is gas - I guess planning ahead you could carry a few sticks/pine cones!

I'm planning to get one and do my bit with renewable fuels...

I have a gas stove too of course - I'm not 100% holy!
