Can anyone advise me which camp bed is best, brand, ease of sleeping and the height? I have a HartfordXl and the bedrooms do slope a bit so a high bed would be not so good!

Rex on here has/had the "JRC Defender" I think, also have a look at the "Nash Indulgence Wide Boy" I was considering either of these as I had decided my Camingaz Double Airbed £10 from ASDA, was not going camping with me, in the end I got two of the "ThermaRest DreamTime's XL" expensive I thought at £119 each, but they are the business, more of a sleeping system in reality although they are basicly still an Airbed based system, and also they come with a lifetime warranty, so will be good value in the longterm, they are designed to fasten together and make up a Queensize bed, which for me an Mrs Francais, will be better than two Cambeds/Bedchairs strapped to-gether, although I am hoping Rex may elaborate on that set-up!, as in the future I may have a go with the Campbeds, I notice our Boys and Girls in the Army/Forces use some pretty good looking campbeds, I came across this the other day when some filming of Camp Bastion in Helmond provence was being shown of the canvas accomadation they sleep/live in, could be worth finding out who is the manufacturer.
I've given up on airbeds. I now have these mats which were recommended to me by another member and they are fab. Very warm, no need for extra insulation under them. i just put a fleece blanket on it and then my sleeping bag
I've recently also found that this
fishing bed is really comfy to sleep on i've only tried it at home so not sure if it needs and extra layer of insulating.

Airbed on one of these..very comfortable and CHEAP !
Almost the same as me, I put a thermarest-type sleeping mat on it - very comfy and cosy as I'm off the ground. I got a couple of extra beds for the children to use with their sleeping mats, that works much better as it stops them rolling around so much and then they don't come out of their sleeping-bags. Hubby prefers being on his mat on the floor, but that's his prerogative!

Hi F/A
The best camping bed chair are made for the specimen anglers they have individual adjustable legs, so you are always on the level best to buy the aluminium as the steel ones are heavy and both a bit bulky,If you decide to get one Measure the length of your bedroom at 2'6" of the floor. To check that your bedroom at that height is long enough.Once you decide then ask the supplier what the lenth is or go to a tackle shop and check them out.here is a few at one shop you will find many more if you google anglers bed chairs. here these are the ones we use for tent camping here
They have been about for a few years now so you can get a good discount but they really are the cats whiskers to sleep on all year round, go and try one in a tackle shop
But like all this type of product you get what you pay for, also check out the sleeping bags for carp anglers We use the Nash Snug as a bug 4 season but we use an EHU in cold weather nash sleeping bags
By the way these sleeping bags attach to the beds so dont slip off.
Rex.
PS the nash beds are also the best but are 3" longer that most 2 and 3 leg beds but if your bedroom is long enough for a nash indulgence wide boy but expensive.

Hi. Why not try starting another thread on this same issue but heading it 'FAO Hartford XL owners' as they will be the best people to advise you on how high a bed you can comfortable fit in?

I am about to purchase two of these for the kids, the youngest has an Outwell campbed, but the bars across the foot and head ends stick out approx 5 cm either side and I`m worried about the damaging the tent walls during the night, as the wriggle. So the Outwell will be for sleepovers at home .
We also find the underneath space useful for storing stuff
This is not a bed but we all had new self inflating mattresses last year and they transformed our nights sleep, I was warm for once! They are called fat airics - I think - they were recommended on this site and they are brilliant.
