Hi

We do 3-5 weeks every summer in France depending on other commitments at home.  Just to of us so car space not to much of an issue.

Always take a decent chair, table and bed.  Have camped before without them but it begins to ruin the holiday when you can get comfy to eat, relax an sleep.

Our longest was 10 days in France last Summer. It should have been 12 but we'd both had enough by then. To be honest i think we would have both been happy enough to move to another area but for the last few days of the 10 we were looking for things to do, places to go that we hadn't already been.
This year i've booked 8 days in the Vendee and the plan is to come back home, recharge the batteries for a day or two then head to somewhere in the UK , maybe the lakes.

Wendy

The longest camping trip we have done is six weeks, touring France.

It was fab! If only we could spare that amount of time away in one go every summer!

4 weeks with teenaged daughters in 2003.

Made our way down France, staying in Burgundy & near Besancon, through Switzerland and into Italy - stayed at Lake Garda, Tuscany and near Naples.

Great hol but year of the heatwave (remember heat anyone?) 44 Celcius in the shade in Florence - whew!

Approx 6 months actually under canvas while in Oz for a year. Had a tent I bought for equiv of about £15 in Woolworths out there (more of a hypermarket than our Woolworths was). Bought dodgy Ford Falcon Estate car for about £200 with rust holes all over and in my naivity drove right the way round the continent and through the middle camping in the bush and at campsites.  Has anyone ever seen the film Wolf Creek? Luckily I saw it after my trip, how that wasn't me I don't know but I'm glad I did it at 19 cos I doubt I'd do it now. Agree with a previous post, just didn't have much gear at all but it's a little different when your washing is in the sea/pool, you can make campfires everywhere, and the weather isn't quite like ours! Plus there are no hubby or children in tow!

3 months in the rotten summer of 1980, at Salcombe, had part time jobs. One of my jobs was working for a murderer (obviously not charged at the time but was a lot later). Nothing weird, cleaning his flat. Anyone guess who?

John Allen (well, that was an alias), well known case, he was finally done a couple of years ago, after his then mistress (who was co-habiting in said flat so working for her too) suddenly "remembered" scratches on his arm. He killed his wife (who he had married bigamously) and 2 children. His mistress Eunice Yabsley wrote a book about it called "Presumed Dead".
