"The great left back Harry Haddock of Clyde. I don't think he was ever booked. My father took me to the cup final just to see him and 2 of Hibs famous 5 Eddie Turnbull and Willie
Ormond. Hibs keeper was Lawrie Leslie. I will never forget 2 great teams"
I know what you're all thinking - he's having a laugh! He thinks he can catch me hook, line and sinker with that fishy tale . He thinks I came up the River Clyde in a banana boat. If any bookies was taking bets I'd PLAICE one and win some dough , then I'd stick some on the end of a hook and reel him in and throw him into the back of the net along with Harry Haddock. In fact I think I'll just trawl the net to see if he's spinning me a line and google "Harry Haddock" - after all no-one will know I took the bait. And as for that "Hibs Famous Five" I won't be googling that one - I know that Enid Blyton wrote that so he is telling a load of CARP.
Off to Luss at Loch Lomond this weekend and I'll see what I can catch when I'm fishing.
Hi Dezzie, does not not look good for locals in cumbernauld
as Clyde can't go to Airdrie as NLC own New Broomfield. It's not far to coatbridge as Albion Rovers own cliftonhill, I used to go there on a friday night in the early 1970's to see the Glasgow Tigers speedway. Iv'e just read Albion are considering plans to sell up and build a new staidium elswhere in coatbridge. I hope things work out for them.
