Well, in the interests of seeing if our new sleeping bags are warm enough I will be leaving my nice warm centrally heated house to sleep in the pop up tent in the garden tonight. I figure if i can survive tonight i will be fine in any weather the spring and summer can throw at me.
I have been dropping hints all night to get my OH to sleep out there instead of me but he wasn't buying it and has now buggered off to bed leaving me with my hot chocolate.
Nuts!
Oh well, here goes, it was nice knowing you all.

I'm back and I didn't freeze. It was surprisingly snug in the tent and since we normally don't camp in anything colder than it was last night we will be fine. Heading off on maundy thursday to a farmer's field with no facilities so i can relax now knowing that even if i can't go the toilet I can at least be warm at night.
I had to check the bags out because I had got what looked like very thin and cold double sleeping bags, one for me and OH and one to stuff the 3 kids in together. they said 2-3 season but at only 250gms or whatever measurement they use i was sceptical. But i made innner sleeping bags out of flennalette sheets and then made outer sleeping bags out of giant fleece blankets. The idea was that the whole sleeping arrangement can be rolled up including pillows into a big sausage and stuffed quickly in the car. last year stuffing 3 single bags, 2 undersheets, 1 fleece, 1 duvet, 7 pillows and 3 air beds into seperate stuff sacs was taking so long to do every weekend it was putting me off. I didn't even put my fleecy undersheets on the mattress last night and i was still warm enough.

Thanks Tinpockets you have done a great service to fellow tent campers I am from the north so am used to the cold but have gone soft since I've been down here but now I know I will survive.
