hi all seen a few bits about ufo lights are they all pretty much the same? are any linkable are most easy to turn on and off ive seen some cupboard type led lights but they were push the whole light type of thing does anyone know of any on offer anywhere thanks
Having just bought a poundland ufo light I can honestly say that the one I bought from Wilkos was worth the extra money (either £2.99 or £3.99 I can't remember) I have also bought some of those push lights from our local pound shop and they aren't much cop either. Wilkos all the way for me.

I have recently bought mine from wilkinsons it was £3.99, however it wasn't on general sale but I ordered it throught the wilkinsons direct bit (instore) tink it can be viewed online its under the title of LED multifunction light. Seems ok to me just haven't put it to the test yet though

wilkos ones are in the electrical section instore , not the camping section , and well worth the money , but poundland ones are just fine too, but have just one ring of lights , the wilkos have 2 rings. The push type ones are not as bright as the ufo ones.
I have previously used one from the pound shop, but it dims after a couple of hours use and isn't much cop at all.
I have bought an expensive on from towsure (about £10) which has a few functions on it, but not tested it out yet on a camping trip. But think I'll use good batteries in it as well.

I've just tried out the Wilco ones and the Poundland ones for the first time this week. IMO the Wilco ones are certainly well worth the extra (£3.99 each) - much brighter - although I had EHU I used this one all evening - great! The Poundland one was OK I suppose but dimmer - fine for the kitchen tent to see to make a last cuppa!

I bought one off Ebay from china or somewhere, 2 rings of lights and you can light just the inner ring, just the outer ring (they have different number of LEDs), or both together. I think it was under £4 delivered and good value. I haven't seen any others for comparison.
It just has a push button on the front (i.e. the face with the LEDs on it), and a hanger to hook it onto the lantern hook in your tent or whatever.
LEDs are probably the most efficient light source there is, and though it takes 4 AA batteries, this will power it for a decent amount of time.
I doubt you'll find something interlinkable for that sort of money.

That sounds absolutely identical to the ones I bought from asda.
Asda have a fantastic returns policy too, if it doesnt work or anything.

The strange thing about the ASDA ones is that there is precious little difference in light output when two rings are lit compared to just the one. This has been discussed on a thread last year when someone went into the physics of it all (I fell asleep by the 2nd line).
So it is far brighter in having, say, four ASDA UFOs with a single ring lit than two with each having both rings lit.
Surely that depends what current your batteries will chuck out? i.e. if batteries only have enough "grunt" to light 24 LEDs, try and drive 48 and they'll be half as bright?
Something like that anyway...
Just tried it with mine though and the first ring doesn't appear to dim when you turn the second one on...
