As a first timer to camping , I have been taking note of advice from all the different forums and using the site reviews to choose our campsite, which we will going to tomorrow. I am sure that we will forget something or as most learn from experience.
We are all looking forward to our adventure and I am sure that we will have loads to report back on and all going well it will stay dry but if not this will definately christen our Gelert - Zenith 6.
I'm sure that you will have a great time. Make sure you have a check-list (there is a standard one available on this site) and make sure you have packed everything on the list (having said that, you WILL forget something).
Which campsite are you going to? OH and i are planning on going away in a few weeks and are not sure where to head. We're also from the Glasgow area (down Braehead way) so if you think you've found a good one please share.

Hi ,Whats up doc
Just noticed you got zenith 6! we have too,we have not been anywhere with it yet but did try to pitch it up in the garden but it was not big enough to peg out proper, have you pitched yours anywhere yet? if so did you manage to get it back in the bag!!! we struggled and still not managed it to fit just wondering if you or anyone else have had this problem with the zenith 6,there has also been reports that some campsites won't let it on because of the pitch size it needs the tent needs 7metres by 7metres,although we are very happy with this tent but are worried that we won't find anywhere that let us pitch, hope you have a great time let us know how you got on with the zenith 6.
Have returned intact and without a divorce on the horizon.
We went to Cobleland campsite at Gartmore just outside Aberfoyle for our first trip for 2 days and even though we did get quite a few looks as it took the three of us 1 1/2 hors to pitch tent completely as our son got board after 1 hour and wanted to go exploring.
The Gelert Zenith 6 is a fantastic tent and has lots of space and storage and a great central area to sit in at night. First night went ok but on second night it was minus conditions and ice all over the tent. We did not bring enough blankets as we had 2 easy beds and 4 fleece blankets but this was of no use when your nose is freezing cold and you cannot get to sleep because of it. We had EHU and brought along a heater just in case , which was a great help, it acts as a fan and can be used in the summer when we go to France. The campsite has just been recently been refurbished and Mike and other staff could not be more helpful. Did a lot of exploring and walking(sore feet) and learned a lot from our mistakes.
When we first removed the tent from bag we did find it hard to get it back in but after a few failed attemps we eventually managed to recreate the same shap and size to fit back in with a lot of tooing and frooing. All in all this has not put us off at all and we will definately be scheduling another trip in a few weeks maybe for a little longer this time to truely get us bedded in to this new way of life. Roll on the summer.
Looking at various reviews of the Gelert - Zenith 6, some people have pitched it varying times from half an hour to an hour. I think as this was our first time we did not too bad but hope to have this down to at least an hour in future. The next problem to tackle is trying to fit everything back into the car on the return.
