After many years of camping on my own, my glw has decided that due to the state of the economy we should explore more of this country so a family tent has been purchased.
My dilema is, over milk and beer
I have 2 kids who get through gallons of beer and myself and the mrs love milk,, or is that the other way round? Anyhoo, can any of suggest what fridge to invest in?
My thought process is a 3 way so we can cool en route, use hook up wherever available and gas for the wild weekends.
Any advise, suggestions, recommedations would be fantastic.
In advance, many thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum .
My dilemma is similar sometimes too, should we keep the wine cold and chuck out the milk when the fridge is full.
I have a 3 way fridge , a waeco combicool , and it works great on gas or electric . it does take up a lot of room though.
i have the older model which cools to 20 degrees below ambient temps, but there is a newer, more expensive one that cools to 30 below , if you are thinking of using it in France .
ha thats funny! We also have a waeco combicool the CAB40 - externally its massive but if you have the space for it go for it as its low on the wattage, silent & you can run it off gas or 12v too - just don't do what my OH did on first use and plug it into the car socket before you've started engine - it flattened the battery in less than 20mins & we almost had to the get the AA out just to over ride the central locking!!!
Re using a CombiCool off the ciggie lighter? If you chill it and the contents really well before you leave the house (12 hours plugged in on max) and don't open it too often en route the contents will remain cold for most of a day. You can also freeze the milk and cartons of orange juice etc and put them in just before you leave
If you're only going for a couple of days at a time then you may not need to take a fridge as I've used one in the past (though purely electric car fridge). However it does take up loads of space. I've previously frozen bottles of water that I intend to use to use as ice packs and they thaw out in time, you could do this with 2l or 4l bottles of milk, just make sure you have one ready to be used for the tea/coffee when you get there.

You're not in the tropics! (unfortunately).
We never take a fridge, just a cool bag. Everything is fine outside the tent. We go without cereal while camping, however, and I take those wee EHU cartons for my coffee!
For breakfast, our kids have cereal bars/chocolate buns/chocolate milk(which doesn't need refridgerated)/fruit/cheese . . .
You could always camp next to a river and use it as your fridge! Nothing colder than a drink from an icy burn!
hi Kendal Kampers welcome to UKCS from a fellow Cumbrian dweller (not too far from you)
We just used to use the cool bag and buy things daily from local village shops wherever we camp but have now got a fridge thing but only works ehu or 12v not with gas. No idea what it is though till I go and have a look at it.
We froze all our meat for the week for Easter hols and it had just about all defrosted for the last day - it was the remembering to take it out to defrost each day that was our problem (well OH's as he's in charge of all that and cooking)
Says Adveturidge on it (??) - OH bought it for £20 from someone at a local shop who'd bough it last summer to keep milk cold so they could brew up in the shop!!
