Sorry if this sounds dim but is this the bendy tensioned pole that goes over the roof of the porch? I have never seen such a spare pole but I have read on here about them being over bent or snapped.
Perhaps if you emailed Outwell they could advise. I bought a full set of spare poles for my Montana on Ebay for £45.
Matt have you had any luck with this as we also have a broken porch pole - have only sued th4 tent 6 times as well - not impressed.
I have been to a local camping shop who are contacting outwell direct to see if they can get a replacement but I fear this will be costly and have been advised thst it will take a minimum of 3 weeks. Any info would be greatfully apperciated
Does the pole have to be made of metal as the origional or could you not make up a fibre glass version from linking sections together to same length? Whats your location Matt G?
Fiona,It is the bendy pole over the roof of the porch, my wife snapped it trying to get it out. I like the idea of maybe knocking one up from a fiberglass pole, i have emailed a couple of Outwell dealers but have had nothing back yet, i think i will ring them tomorrow.
Jeff, i am in Winsford in Cheshire just down the M6 from you.
Ewa B, i will keep you posted on how i get on
Kathryn, Only one in the bag!, I have pinched my brother-in-laws(who has the same tent) when he said he is never going camping again. But he has changed his mind now and is coming away with us next B/Hol and wants it back.
Just to let you know my local Yeomans had a spare pole at their head office and are posting it out - will be at my local Yeomans for pick up on Tuesday - cost is £10. Not sure if it is a section or a whole pole but not bothered as long as it is repaired and we have it for the B/Hol in Wales.
They have said that if it is a section they will repair it for me.
Just thinking that if it is a new pole rather than a section - I can let you have a section of my broken pole and keep the rest for spares. Otherwise may be an idea to contact Yomans and see if they have anymore in stock.
Thanks Ewa B that is really nice of you, i have rang up a local place today called Casey's Outdoor and they have a porch brow pole in stock for £15.
They have put it to one side for me and i will be picking it up on Saturday
I made sure it was the 9.5mm one that fits in the side porch section, when speaking to some shops they have been confused as to what pole i actually want. One place quoted me for the top curved pole that supports the roof, another was for the straight pole that hold up the front door so it acts as a canopy.
Thanks for your offer, Hopefully i won't need it but it is nice to see that there are still people out there that will help others out. When i get the pole i will post the part numbers and anything else that is on the packing for other victims.
Hope yours sorts you out for your trip, we are still trying to get somewhere( left it a bit late to book)
Just rapped in some plastic, no part numbers. My tent is a couple of years old and after speaking to the staff at Casey's they said Outwell have lengthened these poles(not by much) on later models.
They said if it feels under too much strain when putting up just saw about 10mm off the end. This will make it easier to put into the two plastic sockets without losing the tension to the porch brow.
If you struggle with this pole on your tent, as we did before it broke, this may be a way of stopping it snapping and needing to buy a new one.
your hubby sounds like mine - hammer first think later when its too late and already broken. Our local camping shop unfortunately dont have any spare poles of this sort but am really glad they managed to get me one as was also told that to get a part from Outwell themselves would take about a month.
I will be setting up and taking down the porch on our Bank holiday weekend making sure that there are no hammers or impatient hubbies around.
These door canopy poles seem to be a recurring problem ith the outwell tents. they seem to be too long and thats why they are breaking. we have had several previous posts about them .
the nevada xl canopy pole (fibreglas not metal, but same principle ) has caused us problems too. we ended up breaking 2 , and replacing ours with a much shorter length of poles from a cheap pup tent. the pole needed to be several inches shorter to allow the door to close properly and avoid snapping.
