Lovely looking tent , but so long , 9.10m x 6.40, you may have to pay for 2 pitches .
Sorry, that won't help you convince your OH. have you looked at the nebraskas.
If I were you I'd make a point at going and looking at tents up before you decide. Size isn't everything, and even more so if you're only 5' tall and having to pitch some massive gin palace! Also as Debbie says the Maryland xl won't fit on a lot of pitches, and yoy may have to pay more to get a double pitch. It also restricts you in your choice of campsites, especially if you want EHU.
Another thing is, if you just want to go at short notice you may have trouble getting in. sometimes, when I've tried to book 2 or more pitches for myself and my sisters, the site has spaces, but can't guaruntee they are adjoining pitches .
and with 5 kids, i decided a long time ago that 'size really is important' ROFL
unfortunately, we dont have any tent displays here (hmm.... think millets had a small 2man festival tent up, now i come to mention it lol) and for me to get ferry over wouldnt be worth the extra £100+ to look
so i have to go by reviews!!
i like the sites that dont have premarked pitches, so size shouldnt be an issue, especially as we like the quieter ones (and i have now found a really special one right on my doorstep!! so will be frequenting there! at no extra charge for 'having a big one')
lol, thats my side of the argument sorted!!!

Well , if you have a regular site in mind where size won't be an issue go for it.
have you got a garden big enough to pitch it to dry or somehere else you can dry it?. My 7x4 is overflowing the spare room at the moment , I'd hate to have to dry that mansion indoors LOL its almost as big as my house
urmmm, well tbh, i hadnt thought of that one, have never had the problem of needing to dry a tent before (not to say that it wont ever happen though)
how do you do it?? lol
we have always waited to take it down dry i suppose...........
lol, am just asking other half, he doesnt remember it ever being an issue, and has just said that we could take it to the 'local' site and pitch it till a bit of sunshine dries it out, if it is at the end of the season (which i presume would be the only time that it would be an issue packing it) it shouldnt be a prob .

No, it must be completely dry to be packed every time, it will start to go mouldy after about 48 hours if left in the bag damp.
You'll either have to pitch it to dry or find some way of drying it indoors, but one that size is going to cause problems.
If you have a garage or loft , maybe you could find a way of hanging it up from the rafters inside to dry.
It will be too heavy to hang on the washing line I should think.
that makes the Hartford bigger to pitch by 40 cms doesn't it , pls tell me if i am wrong.
The Maryland uses the space better though as you can use all the space dimension in the Maryland , where as on the Hartford you lose a lot of the dimension space because of the pods, hope that makes sense to you.
The maryland has a better hydrostatic head being 5000HH rated compared to 3000Hh of the Hartford .
It has a much airer feel about it with the large panoramic windows giving you a 360 degree view of the site.
The living room and porch are much larger than the Hartford giving your family more room to move around in and to store things in.
