Me and the other half had our first camping trip over the bank holiday weekend and in our eternal wisdom we thought a £20 tent from Tesco would suffice. Needless to say it didn't and we got a little bit damp on Sunday night in the Lakes after it rained all night!

Anyway, since then we've been looking at decent tents now so I'm just trying to gauge peoples recommendations on what the best 2/3 man tent we can get for upto about £60. I was looking at Quechua XL, because I liked the idea of the storage space at the front, and not just keeping everything with us where we sleep.

So what I'm looking for really is peoples tip for a tent which has seperate storage, or small communal room, and a comfortable bedroom for two.

And I promise not to buy anything Tesco ever again (at least for camping). Amen.

Have you had a look on e bay for a Vango venture 400 or 500...always double up on the recommended birth of a tent , eg. a 4 man is really a 2 man etc!  If you want lots of space for storage , and somewhere to sit if it rains then this tent would be ideal.  You can pick up a new one for around £70 to £80 online... or £50 to £60 on e bay if you look around and dont mind getting last years colours etc. The bag it comes in is the size of an average holdal so doesnt take up too much room in the boot either.

Lots of 3-4 berths under budget here

I don't know about small tents, but these are all good brands and will be better than tesco.

Plus now there's always the Quechua 4.2 popup which is a 4 man tent (vis a vis) but REALLY easy to put up and down.

We've also got a Quechua 3 man air which has floor space next to the double airbed but you can't stand up.
