I have a gas cooker with cartridges, the wording on them says they should not be left in the cooker when not in use. I'm guessing that this means when you are not camping. To keep taking the cartridge out every time you use it cannot be right. Correct?
I have noticed with some of the pictures on here of peoples tents that the large gas bottles are outside with the tube connecting them to the cooker going inside. Again I'm guessing this is for safety reasons.
So getting to my question: The small cartridges that I'm using, is it safe to leave them in the tent when not in use, at night for instance, or do you leave them outside, say, in the car?
Well, ideally you shouldn't be using them in the tent , because tents are flammable.
But you're right, they only get removed from the stove for transport and long term storage. while on site try to keep them in a cool ventilated place ie the porch of the tent. I wouldn't thonk a very hot car would be ideal, nor anywhere a gas leak can cause the gas to pool or come into contact with sparks.
Although I'm not intending to cook in the tent, I just wasn't sure what everyone did with their cartridges when not using them, and being the complete newbie that I am, I just had no idea.
