I think Francais' son has the right idea! Ive just been searching for cheap flights from Liverpool. We are meant to be camping in Snowdon after dropping my mum off at her friends in Caernarvon. Metcheck shows heavy rain for all Fri Sat Sun so I'm thinking of wimping out. Didn't occur to me to take a tent to Spain for a weekend. I will have to investigate. Which airport did your son fly to Francais?
My Son Flew from JL Liverpool, total return Flight cost was £99 he clicked all the buttons so price included insurance, fast check in etc, he could have got cheaper but only booked a week in advance, he is just out of the Army so is looking to stay down there all summer if he can find some work just to pay for the pitch and beers!, otherwise he will be back on the 23rd May, when his money runs out, although I get the feeling he may be calling on the Bank of Mum&Dad in a few days time! he maxed the included hold bag weight at 20Kg and his cabin bag was stuffed to the gunnels, but allowable, every extra 1Kilo in the hold is around £10, the site is superb he tells me, especialy as there are only a few folk there at the moment, from the photo he sent the piches look quite compact, they are marked out with white logs, but all seem to have EHU, will get him to measure pitch size, loads of Olive tree cover, so that will help with the shade in July/August.
Just realised you asked which Airport has he has flown to, it was Nice, you can walk from the Airport to the train station at "Saint Augustin" although it is a bit of a faff, easiar to get the shuttle bus into Nice 4Euro, then get the train from Nice central, then it's a 4 Euro fare to get to Biot station were the site is, no more than 100 yrds! walk once of the train, odd though why there is no actual train station at the Airport, anyway he got lucky and met a lad from Manchester who was going to the site next to his (Camping du Pylon), so they shared the 40Euro cost of a Taxi, so that was a waste of 24Euro between them, kids will they ever learn?.
Here is a link to the site http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=8639 all in French, which I don't speak, although using google translater I did manage to comunicate, funny though when the campsite owner replied to me, confirming the booking for my Son's Caravan!, advising him to be carefull of the speed bumps at the site entrance, all part of the fun though.
Off to Peterborough Friday for the BMF show, It always rains when we go there!
The Vango Tigris 8 is probably a bit large for only 4 of us for 2 days but it gives us a good excuse to try out our new tent.
------------- If you stay calm whist all those around you are losing their heads, you haven’t got a clue what’s going on.
I’m not a complete idiot, some parts are missing!
We are off to NW Wales tomorrow. I believe if we turn the tent upside down it can be used as a canoe, anyway if we waited for good weather, we would all get old. Checked the forecast and the rain is due to ease on Tuesday, about 5 minutes before we leave. Happy Daze
of again to north wales, i am lucky as my tent is already pitched on the site for the whole of may, today they forcasted heavy rain for us, and we didnt get a drop, its 40 mins down the road so going no matter what.
