Hi

Can the Vango tent extentions be used on the Vista 800 which is a tunnel tent. We want to put it on the front to create a porch/cooking area but not sure if these extensions are made for tunnel tents, all the adverts show the extensions on the Diablo where there is already part of the tent jutting out and something for the extention to connect too.

You would need the tunnel canopy or tunnel extension as in this link

http://www.outdoorworld.co.uk/vango-tunnel-extension-smokeblack-p-2248.html

even then I am not sure that it would fit I know for sure the large canopy and the new Vango etension will not as I followed bad advice from Vango and ended up with the wrong one myself, managed to exchange for the tunnel canopy and that fitted great. Although if I had known they were going to bring one out with a door this year I would have waited.

Cheers Karen, think thats what i was looking at, are they easy to fit because on our tent there doesn't seem to be any fixing points at the front where the door is where the extention is going to be fitted

It might have clips to attach to the tent poles. this is what the outwell sunvalley canopy has .
Or it could be freestanding, and just attach via the flap that goes over the roof of the tent.
When you say the front? do you mean the side , because these tunnel canopies are designed to fit on the side of the tent, not the front.
I mean the long edge as the side, the short edge as the front or back of the tent.

One of the recent threads about the sunvalleys, shows photo of the outwell universal canopy being used on the front instead the side, it can be done , but not a perfect fit.

its freestanding in the pic , anchored with guyropes.
Its similar to the vango tunnel canopy without the door.

Check the measurements of the vango canopy for height & width , to see how it compares to the tent.

Yer sorry I mean the side, the tent is long enough as it is, i want to create a porch, the door does open and you can make a canopy using poles but its not right good. I understand about attatching it to the existing  poles that makes sense now.

In that case, you want the extension as linked above , or this canopy here .
the keyword is the TUNNEL , in canopy or extension. vango have caused no end of confusion with all the different canopies this year .

I've got the tunnel canopy without the door and that doesn't actully clip onto any tent poles but there is a flap that goes over the top of the tent and is guyed down at the other side it is quite sturdy and with Deltas didn't move an inch last year.

having done extensive research as i also have a vista 800 i have come to the coclusion the the gelert porch extension is the best ,giving you more room and the option of unzipping the whole front to make a canopy

i am going to buy one this weekend

Cheers for that, if you get the chance take a few photo's and give us a look, I know there are a few variations including the Outwell extention which I was keen on.
